POSITION OPENING
The Watauga County Tax Administration Office is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Tax Collector I. Under regular supervision, position performs intermediate clerical work collecting current and delinquent real estate, business and personal property taxes. Duties include collection of property taxes, assisting the public, maintaining records and preparing reports. Position requires general knowledge of methods and procedures used to collect taxes and knowledge of standard office practices, and ability to operate standard office and computer equipment. Graduation from high school and some tax collection experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Salary grade 5, $46,676. County benefit package includes medical, dental and vision insurance; membership with Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System, 5% supplemental retirement contribution; paid holidays; vacation and sick leave.
