Watauga County Recreation Center

The Watauga Community Recreation Center is a state-of-the-art Recreation Center that was open in 2021.  The WCRC features four indoor basketball courts, two swimming pools, weight room and workout facilities, a suspended indoor track, childcare services and more!

Outside on the WCRC campus there is outdoor basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts, playgrounds, five baseball/softball fields, multiple picnic shelters and access to the Boone Greenway.

 

Hours of Operation

Monday – Friday: 6am – 8pm

Saturday: 8am – 8pm

Sunday: 12pm – 5pm

Members of the WCRC receive unlimited access to the WCRC during operating hours as well as free group fitness programming, free pickleball programming, free water fitness programming, free childcare (limited space), and free WIFI.  The WCRC is proud to offer over 50 different free programs to members each week.  Members can also take advantage of open gyms, gym free play, public swim, water slides, non-programmed fitness, and more.

Members also have access to personal training, private swim lessons, and advanced pickleball training for a fee.

The WCRC plays host to multiple special events, sports programming, tournaments, swim meets, and cultural programming each year.

All children under the age of 12 require adult supervision at all times while in the WCRC.

Age Requirements for the WCRC:

·         Gymnasiums and Walking Track: 12 and older unless accompanied by an adult

·         Water and Group Fitness Classes: 16 and over, no exceptions

·         Fitness Equipment: 12 and under not allow.  13-17 allowed ONLY after completing a fitness assessment

·         Swimming Pools:  13 and older unless accompanied by an adult.
