POSITION OPENING
Watauga County is accepting applications for the Detective position with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office in the Narcotics Division. Position performs difficult protective service work investigating criminal activity, interviewing and/or interrogating victims, witnesses and/or suspects, gathering evidence, preparing reports, testifying in court, and related work as apparent or assigned. High school diploma or GED required, as well as possession of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification with considerable experience in law enforcement, criminal investigation and narcotics work, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. County benefit package includes medical, dental and vision insurance; membership with the Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System, 5% supplemental retirement contribution; paid holidays; vacation and sick leave.
