POSITION OPENING
Watauga County Sanitation Department is accepting applications for the position of Equipment Operator I. Position performs intermediate semi-skilled work operating a vehicle in the disposal of solid waste. Duties include operating motorized equipment; ensuring proper completion of assigned work and adequate safety precautions; and providing proper equipment maintenance. Position requires a general knowledge of the operation and servicing of heavy motorized equipment; knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; and thorough knowledge of safe driving practices and occupational hazards. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in the operation of heavy equipment is required. Possession of a valid North Carolina Class A CDL license is also required. County benefit package includes health insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
