POSITION OPENING
Watauga County is accepting applications for the position of Telecommunications Supervisor. Position supervises telecommunications center operations; while also receiving, classifying, processing and dispatching emergency service calls; receiving, recording and forwarding non-emergency service calls; preparing and maintaining records and files; preparing reports; and related tasks as required. Position will staff Communications at an adequate level; schedules and approves leave requests; approves timesheets; researches calls on DAT tape multi-line recorder for investigation and court purposes; observes subordinate progress; evaluates performance of staff; trains new employees; answers administrative questions; orders and maintains uniforms; purchases center supplies; sets-up training programs for dispatch staff; and ensures staff training is current. This is a working supervisory position which performs all duties of Telecommunicator when required. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with EMD, EFD, EPD, DCI (Modules 1-3 and 6), CPR, NC Sheriff Standards (or equivalent) telecommunicator certification, managerial and extensive telecommunications experience is required. Night shift and weekend work is required. Salary Grade 10, $42,741. Application deadline is Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
