POSITION OPENING
Watauga County Emergency Management Department is accepting applications for the position of Emergency Management Coordinator/Fire Marshal. Position coordinates the emergency management program; ensures compliance with the fire code through periodic inspections of nonresidential buildings; provides technical assistance to emergency response agencies; coordinates emergency services during emergencies; investigates cause and origin of fires; maintains records and files; prepares reports. Knowledge of emergency management methods, practices and techniques, familiarity with fire code is required. Graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in public safety, public administration or a related field and extensive fire inspection and/emergency management is preferred. Possession of standard Level III Fire Inspector Certificate Required. NCEM Certified Emergency Manager or Degree in Emergency Management from a two or four year college or equal experience preferred. Certified Arson Investigator certificates or equal experience preferred. Some weekend work may be required. Salary Grade 15, $42,904.
