WATAUGA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2023
The Watauga County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 5:30 P.M. in the Commissioners’ Board Room located in the Watauga County Administration Building, Boone, North Carolina.
Chairman Turnbow called the meeting to order at 5:32 P.M. The following were present:
PRESENT: Larry Turnbow, Chairman
Charlie Wallin, Vice-Chairman
Todd Castle, Commissioner
Braxton Eggers, Commissioner
Ray Russell, Commissioner
Andrea Capua, County Attorney
Deron Geouque, County Manager
Anita J. Fogle, Clerk to the Board
At 5:32 P.M., Commissioner Wallin, seconded by Commissioner Russell, moved to enter Closed Session to discuss Land Acquisition, per G. S. 143-318.11(a)(5)(i).

Commissioner Russell, seconded by Commissioner Eggers, moved to resume the open meeting at 6:22 P.M.

Possible Action After Closed Session
Commissioner Wallin, seconded by Commissioner Russell, moved to approve an offer to purchase two tracts (an approximate 6.13 acres and an approximate 1.87 acres) from Markovich Properties adjacent to County-owned property near Hwy 421, Landfill Drive, and Innovation Drive at a purchase price of $3,000,000 with 90 days in due diligence and an additional 90 days, if needed, at no additional cost.
