     ASA Softball Umpires are needed for Watauga County Parks and Recreation’s Adult Slow Pitch Softball League. Softball games are played weekday evenings beginning at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings. Work schedule is flexible. Pay rate is $13.50 per game. The 2008 ASA Softball Umpire’s Clinic will be held April 5th at the Optimist Clubhouse in Boone, NC. This class is mandatory for those who wish to call adult slow pitch for Watauga County Parks and Recreation. The ASA Softball Umpire Clinic will teach the ASA slow pitch softball rules and positioning mechanics. Pre-registration is required. The registration fee is $25 per person (lunch is provided) and must be paid the day of the clinic.      Little League Baseball Umpires are needed for the youth baseball program (ages 9 - 16). Baseball games are played weekday evenings beginning at 5:30pm and on Saturday mornings. Work schedule is flexible. The 2008 Little League Baseball Umpire Clinic will be held March 29th and 30th at the Optimist Clubhouse in Boone, NC. Those who wish to be a little league baseball umpire for Watauga County Parks and Recreation must attend both days of this clinic. This class will teach the Little League Rules, Senior League Rules, Positioning Mechanics, and the Local Rules and Regulations. Pre-registration for this class is required. The class registration fee is $25 and must be paid on or before the first day of class. Pay rate for Watauga County Parks and Recreation Little League Baseball Umpires range from $18 to $22 per game.
