Men's & Women's Softball

April 7, 2008


     Watauga County Parks and Recreation offers 5 divisions of Adult Softball: Men’s Open A (most competitive league), Men’s Open B, Men’s Open C, Men’s Open D, Men’s Church League and Women’s Open League. Participants must be 16 years of age or older and live or work full time in Watauga County. Teams play approximately 2 nights each week for the 8 – 12 week program. The registration fee for Men’s Open A, Men’s Open B and Men’s Open C is $490 per team (18 games guaranteed). The registration fee for Men’s Open D, Men’s Church League and Women’s Open is $425 per team (15 games guaranteed). The registration deadline for all Adult Softball Leagues is 5:00pm on Monday, April 7, 2008. High Country Senior Games

May 19 - June 10, 2007


     The High Country Senior Games is for residents of Watauga, Avery, Mitchell, & Yancey counties who are 55 years of age and better. Over 52 events/activities are offered through the Senior Games including track & field, bowling, billiards, swimming, bocce, table tennis, racquetball, shuffleboard, golf and tennis. For artists, the Senior Games offers the SilverArts competition of visual, literary, comtemporary, and performing arts. The Games provide local individuals an opportunity to showcase their talents, enjoy being active, renew old skills and learn new ones. Individuals compete for awards in their own gender and age category within five year increments (i.e. 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 60, etc.). The High Country Senior Games is a division of the North Carolina Senior Games. Participants of the High Country Senior Games have an opportunity to qualify for the State Games held in Raleigh each year, and at state competition have the opportunity to qualify for the National Senior Games held every 2 years.
