The Animal Care and Control Office is located behind the County landfill at 672 Landfill Rd. just east of Boone off US 421. Normal business hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 8:00am-11:30am and 12:30pm-4:00 pm; Tuesday & Thursday - 8:00am-12:00pm.

The Watauga County Department of Animal Care and Control is responsible for investigating animal cruelty, enforcing existing animal control laws, and managing stray animals.
