TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Transportation services are intended to assist older adults who cannot provide or arrange their own transportation to maintain or regain the ability to live and function as independently as possible. Transportation is provided to locations, which enable older adults to access services and/or carry-out essential daily living tasks such as medical care facilities, nutrition sites, grocery stores, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Must be 60 years of age or older
  • Must be in need of the service

The Project on Aging contracts with AppalCart to provide transportation services. Eligible participants may ride at no charge two days each week and may pay a fee to ride additional days when AppalCart is in their area.

AppalCart Schedule

L. E. Harrill Senior Center

  • Monday - Intown and Foscoe.
  • Tuesday - Deep Gap, Stoney Fork, Blowing Rock, and Intown
  • Wednesday - Meat Camp, Todd and Intown
  • Thursday - Intown, Cove Creek, Foscoe and Matney
  • Friday - Blowing Rock, Deep Gap, Intown, and Stoney Fork

Western Watauga Community Center

  • Monday - Cove Creek areas, Mabel, Silverstone, Rush Branch, Pottertown.
  • Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Cove Creek areas, Bethel, Beaver Dam, Mabel, Silverstone, Zionville.
  • Friday - Matney, Rominger, Laurel Creek, 321 North and Cove Creek areas.
